South Korean Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon was on an official visit in Bulgaria (24-26 October 2017)
The Prime minister of the Republic of Korea Lee Nak-yon was on a three-day official visit in Bulgaria between 24th October and 26th October. He was accompanied in Sofia by a governmental and business delegation. During his visit, Lee Nak-yon had a meeting with his Bulgarian counterpart, the Prime minister of the Republic of Bulgaria Boyko Borisov, as well as with the Bulgarian President Rumen Radev.
The implementation of Korean technologies in Bulgaria, the production of electric and cyber cars, as well as joint initiatives in the spheres of energy, information technologies and industrial technologies were among the discussed topics during the conversation between the two Prime Ministers. They discussed the possibility of creating of a joint automotive production of new generation in Bulgaria, outlining the favourable investment environment that could be propitious for investors. Among the members of the delegation were directors of the Korean economic giants Hyundai and Samsung, which consider to get involved into a joint economic scale project.
Part of the visit of Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon in Bulgaria included the participation at an official ceremony held at the showroom of Hyundai In Sofia, where was presented a newly created Bulgarian-Korean business chamber, as a Council at the Bulgarian-Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI). The business chamber unifies the efforts of Bulgarian and South Korean companies and business people with a long-standing experience with the bilateral relations. It received the support of the prime ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Korea.
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry Bulgaria-Korea (CCI Bulgaria-Korea) welcomes this new enterprise and in its capacity of an initiator of the bilateral business exchange over the recent years, will actively participate in this new initiative, thanks to which both investments and bilateral trade – which currently amounts to a little more than 200 million USD – and business contacts, joint partnerships and market niches at national and European level should experience a considerable increase.
